Within months, a flying taxi will take off in Paris, which could change city traffic

If all goes according to plan, the German Volocopter will be able to transport passengers in full swing during the 2024 Paris Olympics. In order to make the structure operational by then, they will be flying over the French capital within months.

A Volocopter flying taxi appeared in the news seven years ago, with a promise to reform urban transport. RobbReport now writes the structure is ready for public testing, and in 2021, that is, within months, test flights will begin in Paris.

The electric Volocopter is a vertical take-off and landing vehicle that uses its rotors to rise high.

Florian Reuter, head of Volocopter, the German startup behind the development, sees the first commercial routes for the flying taxi could open in 2-3 years. And the biggest publicity could be brought to the vehicle by the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In the meantime, however, much remains to be done: for the time being, the Volocopter has only been licensed for testing in the suburbs, so the results must convince the authorities that its use would be safe in the city center as well. In addition, the infrastructure for vehicle transport needs to be built.
