Beta Technologies is reportedly the first company to have conducted a drop test to evaluate the safety of flying with electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and to assess the performance of the battery in the event of a crash.

The Dragon’s RotorX eVTOL is similar to the Jetson One in terms of design and operation, but it can only accommodate one passenger, has a flight time of 20 minutes on a single charge, and is powered by 16 kW motors with eight rotors. It can be controlled using a joystick, except during landing when it can be set to automatic mode. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the aircraft is classified as ultralight, so no pilot’s license is needed to operate it.
There is currently significant interest in the potential for flying cars, also known as vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) vehicles, to revolutionize transportation. These vehicles have the potential to address some of the challenges associated with traditional ground-based transportation, such as congestion and limited mobility in certain areas. However, integrating flying cars into existing infrastructure and transport systems will likely require significant changes and considerations.
Aura Aerospace has developed a VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) aircraft called the Ranger, which is intended for intercontinental journeys and can land on rooftops.
One of the main challenges to the development of flying cars has been the ability to create a vehicle that is both safe and practical. Many of the early prototypes were large and cumbersome, and often required significant infrastructure to support them, such as special landing pads or runways.
