Boeing’s fighter jet

  • 1Minute

The Loyal Wingman, which is not only the first aircraft in the last fifty years to be designed and manufactured entirely in Australia, but also the first aircraft to be controlled by artificial intelligence instead of man. Much cheaper than traditional fighter jets, a “loyal wing aide” can fly in conjunction with human-led military aircraft, which can significantly reduce costs and put new tactical elements in the hands of strategists. Developed as part of an Airpower Teaming System designed by Boeing, the aircraft made its first journey on Tuesday, during which it took off fully automatically and then flew a pre-designated route at variable speeds. One of the great advantages of the Loyal Wingman is that, thanks to its modular nose, its equipment can always be adapted to the mission, so that it can be equipped with different sensors, military systems or even weapons, depending on the task.
