Audi, Italdesign and Airbus are applying for a joint study. “Pop.Up Next” is a purely electric, fully automated concept that supports both horizontal and vertical mobility. In the distant future, this vehicle could provide fast and convenient transportation of people in cities. Using both roads and air, it also offers a solution to traffic problems. A defining element in the interior is the 49-inch screen, while communication between people and the machine is based on speech, face recognition, eye tracking and touch functions.
The ultra-light two-seater cabin can be connected to either the car module or the flight module. With its expertise in battery technology and automation, Audi is helping to make the project a reality.
“Creativity is essential when it comes to new urban mobility concepts and people’s unique needs. Italdesign is an inexhaustible source of innovative technologies and extreme prototypes. “Pop.Up Next” is a bold vision that can change the lives of the cities of the future in the long run. ” Said Dr. Bernd Martens, Member of Audi’s Board of Directors for Procurement, President of Italdesign.
Italdesign creates forward-looking vehicle concepts for Audi and many customers around the world. According to Jörg Astalosch, CEO of Italdesign: “The rules for urban mobility of the future will be determined by different actors. We are proud that Airbus, a leading company in the aerospace industry, and Italdesign are jointly researching solutions for future mobility. ”
Astalosch believes “Pop.Up Next” is a flexible, demand-driven study that opens up the third dimension of mobility for city dwellers. Italdesign seeks to increase the acceptance of future mobility solutions in cities by leveraging the full network of cities, universities and stakeholders. The premiere of the first version of “Pop.Up” was just seen at the Geneva Motor Show three years ago.
