Electric planes are the future of air transport, whether for passengers or freight. Express mail company UPS is joining the queue, with 150 electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, known as eVTOL, under option with US company Beta Technologies.
UPS has agreed with development company Beta Technologies to purchase ten 635-kilogram electric-powered vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, which will be available from 2024, and later expand its fleet to 150 units.
German Wingcopter will be the first major supplier to United Parcell Service’s (UPS) express parcel delivery fleet, and new models can be born through the partnership. The company’s product would be used experimentally in confined areas, the challenge could be flying over populated areas.
