The VT35 global debut launch event
The “VT35 Global Debut” launch event occurred on October 13, 2025, at Luogang Park in Hefei, Anhui Province. The unveiling ceremony was attended by representatives from the Hefei Municipal Government, customers, suppliers, media, and other distinguished guests. Notable attendees included:
- Mr. Yuan Fei, Vice Mayor of the Hefei Municipal Government
- Mr. Xu Haijun, Deputy Director of the Low-Altitude Economy Division, Anhui Provincial Development and Reform Commission
- Mr. Yin Xingke, Deputy General Manager of JAC Group Co., Ltd.
- Mr. Xu Huawei, Secretary of the Lujiang County Committee
- Mr. Li Wei, District Mayor of Baohe District, Hefei
During the proceedings, Ehang’s new-generation long-range eVTOL aircraft—the VT35 was formally unveiled, garnering substantial attention for its innovative design and sophisticated technological attributes. Ehang further disclosed the official price for the VT35 standard version in the Chinese domestic market, established at RMB 6.5 million.

Subsequent to comprehensive preliminary design validation and meticulous R&D debugging, the VT35 has successfully executed its transition flight test, marking a crucial advancement in its technical development. A video of the flight was presented during the launch event.
Technical specifications and design innovations
The VT35 incorporates a tandem-wing layout paired with a two-seat configuration. It utilizes eight distributed lift propellers to facilitate vertical take-off and landing, seamlessly transitioning to a pusher propeller and fixed wings for optimized cruise flight. Offering a fully loaded design range of approximately 200 kilometers, the VT35 combines extended-range performance with compact versatility.
In comparison to its predecessor, the VT-30, the VT35 preserves exceptional aerodynamic efficiency and flight stability while adopting a more streamlined footprint measuring approximately 8 meters in length and wingspan, and 3 meters in height, with a maximum takeoff weight of 950 kg.

This refined design mitigates ground operational risks and bolsters cost-effectiveness. Of particular note, the VT35 maintains compatibility with existing EH216-S vertiports and accommodates a broad spectrum of urban takeoff and landing sites, such as parks, rooftops, and parking lots. This versatility amplifies infrastructure utilization and enables fluid intercity air mobility linking city centers directly.
Drawing on Ehang’s established expertise in autonomous flight systems, fleet management, and full-redundancy architecture bolstered by its command-and-control infrastructure, standardized vertiports, and charging platforms the VT35 supports fully automated operations and synchronized fleet maneuvers along predefined flight paths.
It further integrates advanced obstacle detection and avoidance mechanisms, upholding rigorous operational safety protocols. Engineered to elevate intercity aerial travel to a secure, routine, and streamlined modality, the VT35 redefines spatial interconnectivity and harnesses the expansive opportunities within the low-altitude economy.
Airworthiness certification and development milestones
In March 2025, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) accepted Ehang’s type certificate (TC) application for the VT35 eVTOL aircraft. The model is presently advancing through airworthiness certification, with internal testing and experimental flights demonstrating consistent progress. Capitalizing on the triumphant certification trajectory of the EH216-S, Ehang is deploying its validated technical and regulatory acumen to expedite the VT35’s evaluation and approval procedures.

Strategic vision and ecosystem integration
The VT35 is meticulously designed to deliver a safer, more efficient, environmentally sustainable, and economically viable solution for intra-city and intercity transportation requirements. It is projected to foster “one-hour air mobility living circles” spanning key metropolitan clusters, including the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, as well as bay areas and archipelagos.
The accrued operational proficiency from EH216-S operators encompassing the attainment of Air Operator Certificates and the implementation of trial commercial operations furnishes a robust basis for hastening the VT35’s commercialization pathway and operational framework.
Collectively, the VT35 and EH216-S are anticipated to synergize in constructing an integrated low-altitude transportation network accommodating varied applications, thereby embedding pilotless eVTOLs seamlessly into daily routines. This ecosystem-centric methodology establishes the foundation for a scalable low-altitude economy propelled by aircraft innovation, practical deployments, and supportive infrastructure.

Moreover, Ehang intends to harness the VT35 platform for ongoing advancements, including the development of a tilt-rotor variant to broaden its applicability across diverse sectors.
Strategic partnerships and commercial commitments
At the event, Ehang formalized cooperation agreements with:
- Zhejiang Zhiyi UAV Technology Co., Ltd. of Wencheng County
- Hainan Fuma General Aviation Industry Development Co., Ltd.
These collaborations will concentrate on the procurement, promotion, and operational deployment of the VT35, collectively propelling the evolution of the low-altitude economy. Presently, a platform entity affiliated with the Hefei Municipal Government has submitted purchase orders for the VT35 long-range pilotless eVTOL aircraft.
In August 2025, Ehang and the Hefei Municipal Government executed an investment cooperation agreement to institute a VT35 series product hub in Hefei, collaboratively advancing the low-altitude economy ecosystem.
In September, Hefei issued the Hefei Low-Altitude Economy Development Scenario White Paper, delineating objectives, scenarios, and developmental trajectories for the low-altitude economy, while furnishing robust policy and infrastructural backing for the research, development, testing, and deployment of aircraft such as the VT35.
Leadership perspectives
Wang Zhao, Chief Operating Officer of Ehang, observed during the event: “Coinciding with the second anniversary of the EH216-S’s Type Certification, the VT35’s launch signifies the maturation of Ehang’s long-range product lineage and a pivotal milestone in realizing our advanced air mobility aspirations. In partnership with our collaborators, we shall expedite the commercialization of pilotless eVTOL aircraft across multifaceted application domains, cultivating a novel, cohesive urban-intercity low-altitude transportation ecosystem.”
Mr. Yin Xingke, Deputy General Manager of JAC Group, remarked: “The low-altitude economy embodies the intersection of intelligent connectivity, new energy paradigms, and sophisticated manufacturing, serving as an essential conduit for industrial synergy and ecosystem innovation.
We pledge comprehensive support for the VT35’s airworthiness certification in Hefei and anticipate its prompt endorsement alongside practical implementations in intercity transport, emergency response, and logistics.”
Huazhi Hu, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Ehang, affirmed: “From our inception, Ehang has committed to spearheading transformative innovation within the urban air mobility sector. Through rigorous R&D and design processes, we adhere to paramount safety benchmarks and champion the industry’s sustainable progression.
The VT35, in tandem with the urban-centric EH216-S, will coalesce into a holistic intelligent air mobility network bridging short- to medium-long-range contexts. Harnessing insights from the EH216-S certification, we shall accelerate the VT35’s airworthiness and commercialization endeavors.
As trailblazers in pilotless eVTOL innovation, Ehang persists in refining aircraft efficacy and diversifying applications to furnish the public with enhanced safety, intelligence, and accessibility in low-altitude transportation—paving the way for a verdant, collaborative horizon in global civil aviation.”
