In addition to the construction, law enforcement and security sectors, unmanned aircraft are now becoming increasingly popular in the agricultural sector. The trend is illustrated by the fact that, while it is estimated that a few years ago around 80 percent of agricultural companies were averse to the technology, today 80 percent are open to it.

The news was announced by the North Carolina Department of Transportation and drone logistics company Volansi. According to the release, two experimental deliveries have been made to date. This is particularly important as it has been very difficult to organise supplies to the residents of the North Carolina island after a weather emergency.

The new EU legislation, which will come into force on 1 January 2021, has been criticised for lumping together modelers and drones, and models (officially known as model aircraft) and drones, forcing modelers to comply with rules that were only “imposed” on them, apparently, because of the mass emergence of drones and the new regulation. The issue is, as is usual in such a complex area of regulation, much more complex.
