Munich, 30 January 2025 – CycloTech, a global innovator in aviation propulsion systems, has announced the establishment of a subsidiary in Bavaria, Germany. This strategic expansion marks a significant milestone in the industrial scaling of its revolutionary CycloRotor technology an advanced propulsion system poised to redefine the future of electric flight.

The Bavarian state government has expressed strong support for the initiative, recognizing it as a crucial step in securing the region’s position as a global leader in aerospace innovation. By leveraging Bavaria’s robust industrial network, world-class research institutions, and progressive economic policies, CycloTech aims to accelerate the development and deployment of sustainable aviation solutions.
Bavaria welcomes CycloTech’s expansion with strong government backing
The expansion into Germany has been met with enthusiasm from Bavarian government officials and industry leaders alike. Former State Minister Kerstin Schreyer, an advocate for economic innovation and the aerospace industry, has played a key role in supporting CycloTech’s establishment.
“Bavaria is the innovation hub for aviation and aerospace in Germany. With our Hightech Agenda Bavaria and Aerospace Cluster, we provide an unparalleled ecosystem for groundbreaking technologies like CycloRotor. This propulsion system will give Bavaria’s aviation sector critical momentum in the transition to sustainable mobility,” Schreyer stated.
The Bavarian region, particularly the area around Taufkirchen/Ottobrunn, is known for its concentration of aerospace companies and research institutions. The newly established Technical University of Munich (TUM) Aerospace Faculty further strengthens the region’s capabilities in advanced propulsion research and development. These factors make Bavaria an ideal location for CycloTech’s next phase of growth.
Maximilian Böltl, spokesperson for the Young Group of the CSU parliamentary faction, echoed this sentiment:
“CycloTech is a true game-changer in aviation. The potential applications of CycloRotor technology extend far beyond urban air mobility—it has transformative implications for logistics, emergency medical services, and even defense sectors. Bavaria is committed to fostering innovation, and we will actively support this journey to ensure these breakthroughs remain in Europe.”
What makes CycloRotor technology revolutionary ?
CycloTech’s CycloRotor propulsion system stands apart from conventional aviation engines due to its highly dynamic thrust control, compact design, and precision maneuverability. These characteristics make it an optimal solution for applications requiring vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) capabilities, including urban air mobility (UAM), unmanned aerial systems (UAS), and specialized logistics.
Key advantages of CycloRotor propulsion:
Exceptional maneuverability – CycloRotor technology enables instant and precise directional thrust control, which is critical for stable hovering and controlled landings.
Compact form factor – Unlike traditional rotors, the CycloRotor system integrates seamlessly into vehicle designs, reducing aerodynamic drag and improving efficiency.
Enhanced safety and redundancy – The modular architecture ensures fault tolerance, making it a safer option for critical applications such as emergency response and air taxis.
Versatile applications – In addition to urban mobility, CycloRotor technology holds significant potential for military operations, autonomous cargo transport, and space exploration systems.
A long-term commitment to European innovation
CycloTech’s headquarters in Linz, Austria, will remain the company’s primary development and testing center. However, the Bavarian subsidiary will focus on industrial partnerships, research collaborations, and preparation for serial production.
“This is not a short-term move but a strategic investment in the future of aviation,” said Dr.-Ing. Marcus Bauer, CEO of CycloTech. “By expanding into Bavaria, we are laying the foundation for a new era of propulsion technologies that will drive the aviation sector towards sustainability and efficiency.”
CycloTech’s expansion aligns with Europe’s broader goals in the Green Deal and Horizon Europe research initiatives, both of which emphasize decarbonization and the advancement of clean aviation technologies. The European Union’s commitment to zero-emission air travel by 2050 further highlights the relevance of CycloTech’s innovations in shaping the industry’s future.
The road ahead: scaling up for production
As part of its growth strategy, CycloTech plans to establish pilot manufacturing facilities and test programs in collaboration with leading aerospace companies and research institutions. The company is also actively seeking investment and government grants to accelerate the commercialization of its CycloRotor propulsion systems.
The Hightech Agenda Bavaria, which allocates billions of euros towards supporting breakthrough technologies, is expected to play a crucial role in facilitating CycloTech’s transition from research to full-scale production. The company’s long-term goal is to mass-produce CycloRotor units for diverse aviation applications, positioning Bavaria as a global manufacturing hub for next-generation propulsion systems.
“We are at the dawn of a new aviation revolution,” Bauer concluded. “The combination of European industrial expertise, strong research partnerships, and government support provides the ideal foundation for establishing CycloTech as a leading force in the industry.”
With the Bavarian government’s backing and an ecosystem rich in aerospace talent, CycloTech is well on its way to defining the future of flight not just in Europe, but worldwide.
