Test the Airspeeder Mk3

Thanks to the development of the drone market, quadrocopters are now being made that can be used as a real means of transport. One of these is the Alauda Airspeeder Mk3 EXA, a flying car created by Alauda Aeronautics under the supervision of the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority. The vehicle recently completed its first full flight test, IFLScience reports. The aircraft was piloted by a team of professionals, so far only from a distance. It joins the EXA series of airspeeders. These are electric flying vehicles designed specifically for racing. At Alauda, they hope to create a series of competitions for similar machines.

The plan is to launch a season in three locations as early as 2021. The company says the races will even include pit stops and, in time, human pilots will be installed in the vehicles. The Airspeeder series is already very close to real flying cars driven by pilots. The four-rotor powered models are officially eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) vehicles. The company’s aircraft can climb up to 500 metres and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. For the time being, the battery of the series can only fly for 10-15 minutes.
